            The state grows 145 different types of medicinal plants which are extremely in demand and have enormous prospects. Out of these 145 medicinal plants the State Medicinal Plant Board has put emphasis on the cultivation of 32 such medicinal plants which have very good potential in the domestic as well as international markets.

9. Various Schemes

 

Various Central Sponsored Schemes and State Government schemes are there in this division.

 

1.      Macro Mode Management Work Scheme ( Central Sponsored Scheme.)

2.      Horticulture Mission Scheme ( Central Government Scheme).

3.      Hybrid Seed Production Scheme (A joint venture between Bejo Sheetal Company and W.B. State Food Processing and Horticulture Department)

4.      Orchard Subsidy Scheme  ( Govt. of West Bengal).

5.      Grames  cultivation scheme in WB

6.      Coconut Development Scheme ( Govt. of West Bengal).

 

10. Central & State Governments Incentives and Assistance

 

i) Central Government Incentive Schemes: It has got six schemes under which it provides assistance for the development of processed food sector in the country.

 

a.       Scheme for Technology Up gradation/Modernization.

b.      Scheme for Human Resource Development.

c.       Schemes for Quality Assurance, Codex standards and Research & Development.

d.      Scheme for Strengthening of Nodal Agencies.

e.       Scheme for Backward and Forward Integration and other Promotional Activities.

f.        Scheme for Infrastructure Development.

 

 

ii) West Bengal Incentive Schemes, 2004.

 

            This scheme came into effect from the 1st April 2004 and shall remain valid for a period of five years. The scheme offers different and new incentives, quite attractive for industrial in large, medium and small-scale sectors.

 

For the purpose of Incentives, districts have been divided into three major groups.

 

Group-A:   Comprising of Collate Municipal Corporation

Group-B :  South 24 Pgs. North 24 Pgs., Howrah, Hooghly, Burdwan, Nadia &

                  Purbo Medinipore.

            Group-C:   Murshidabad, Birbhum, Purulia, Bankura, Malda, Cooch behar, North  & South Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri.
